SNEWS® Live -- It's been just over two years since Will Manzer, current CEO of Eastern Mountain Sports, acquired the New Hampshire-based retailer in a management-led buyout. Since then, Manzer has been scrambling to connect with younger consumers, reconnect with its core consumers, and establish itself as the retailer to turn to when outdoor athletes are seeking gear. Part of the drive has been centered around creating a branded product line that is innovative and unique, and Manzer feels EMS has that in the newly introduced and patent-pending Sync, the company's first key launch of a proprietary product line.

We sat down with Manzer at a recent Outdoor Industry Association gathering in Chattanooga, Tenn., to hear about the retailer's drive to "sync" up with its consumers.
