SNEWS® Live -- Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, show organizers sponsored an inspiring tribute to the history of the annual trade show. Outdoor Retailer commissioned SNEWS® managing editor Wendy Geister and merchandising maven Sharon Leicham to assemble a 25-year retrospective that would visually recap Outdoor Retailer's role in the outdoor recreation business. In a display that depicted the great milestones in adventure history, RetroWalk allowed visitors to take a stroll through 25 years of outdoor product launches, noteworthy events and people, and company milestones. During Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2006 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Wendy Geister took SNEWS® Live reporter James Mills on a guided tour of the exhibit.

Remembering the history of the outdoor industry, its individuals, its products and its companies, is very important we believe. There is strength in history and heritage. SNEWS® has been covering the outdoor industry since 1983, and a number of our team have been members of the industry since well before that. Realizing that no other industry publication is better suited to remembering and documenting, correctly, the history of our still relatively young industry, SNEWS® is committed to building the definitive historical archives which we launched on September 14 with the first article in a regular series -- SNEWS® Looks Back.
