SNEWS® launches new feature to encourage more community discussion

“Creating Community Through Communication” has been the mantra of the SNEWS® team since we launched the broader GearTrends® segment of the business five years ago. To take our community of communication further, SNEWS® has added a comment and chat feature that now appears at the end of every article in SNEWS® -- excluding press release naturally. This feature, active as of April 26, is retroactive, meaning it appears on every article that exists on the SNEWS® website, even ones we posted as far back as 2001.

To post a comment on any article, just click on the link, "Begin the discussion by clicking here," which is at the bottom of all stories housed on the website. Whether you disagree with our SNEWS® View or agree, want to give praise to a story or subject, add an interesting fact or thought that may have been overlooked, begin a discussion around a topic inspired by the article or really just about anything else you as a reader feel is important to the growth of your industry, we want to hear from you as does the rest of the industry.

All discussion threads can also be accessed via our SNEWS® Industry Chat section at www.snewsnet.com/cgi-bin/snews/forums/index.html appearing under the Article Discussions topic head. That’s found by going to Industry Chat on the right navigation bars. By default, all discussions carry the article headline, with an easy link back to the article where our subscribers can read the story, and see all the posts that were specific to that story, appearing in order at the end of the article.

While we value unfettered opinion and open, free debate, we do have what we are terming the SNEWS® Rules of Engagement, which states that you do need to show respect and courtesy for people or companies about whom you comment -- we know, how old school of us, but we want people to play nice and be nice.

After all, the intent of the section is to allow all SNEWS® subscribers an opportunity to participate in a public and professional community discussion, in keeping with our “Creating Community Through Communication” mantra. While we typically won't touch a posting, we do reserve the right to edit or refuse the publication of remarks that we deem unsuitable. We may also correct for unintended spelling and grammatical errors ... or not.

OK, gang, the floor is yours, operators are standing by, and microphones are live…. Chime in often, and help us keep our respective industries engaged in lively discussions and thoughtful introspection.

And do let us know what you think.
