After pulling assault-style rifles from its shelves in the wake of another school shooting in February, Dick’s Sporting Goods is destroying the unsold inventory.

“We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change,” a company spokesperson told SNEWS in an email on Wednesday. “We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.”

Dick’s declined to be interviewed further.

The sporting goods chain also decided it would no longer sell high capacity magazines or firearms to anyone younger than 21 following the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Kroger, Walmart, and L.L.Bean also raised the age to 21 for all gun sales.

Dick’s has changed its policies before in response to shootings. The retailer stopped selling modern sporting rifles at its stores after the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
