The SNEWS team was so impressed this year by the number of outdoor retailers thinking outside the box, showing devotion to their community, and simply put, giving customers a cool shop to gear up for the great outdoors. Here are a few of our favorites:

It's cool because: it sells samples and out-of-season gear to keep prices super low

Sunflower Outdoor and Bike in Lawrence, Kansas


It's cool because: it's cultivating an enthusiastic outdoorsy culture in Kansas.

Repair Lair in Minneapolis, Minnesota


It's cool because: it's saving customers money and helping the environment by offering gear repair instead of just buying new.

Outdoor Gear Exchange in Burlington, Vermont
