Atlas targets women with winter snowshoe workshop program

Atlas Snow-Shoe Company is kicking off the winter season with a series of workshops to get more women out on the snow and support its new women's snowshoe line, the Atlas Elecktra Series.

Atlas Snow-Shoe Company is kicking off the winter season with a series of workshops to get more women out on the snow and support its new women's snowshoe line, the Atlas Elecktra Series. The Women's Explore Winter Workshops will hit key retail and health clubs in Seattle, Portland, Denver and Boulder. In addition to adventure racer Cathy Sassin presenting a basic outdoor education overview, a short film will be shown featuring three women from different sports backgrounds on a snowshoe adventure weekend in Yellowstone National Park. Workshop participants will also have a chance to participate in a follow-up hike on Elektra snowshoes. Partners in the program include: Mountain Hardwear, Montrail, Luna Bar, Petzl, National Geographic Maps, Subaru, Easton and the Women's Sports Foundation. Workshop participants will also receive a CD-ROM with how-to information, downloadable maps, safety tips and special offers from sponsors. The workshop schedule is: Seattle, Wash., Nov. 19, at REI; Portland, Ore., Nov. 20-23, at Club Sports, REI, The Mountain Shop; Denver, Colo., Jan. 5-8, 2003, at Denver REI, The Sporting Woman, EMS, Cherry Creek Athletic Club, Denver Athletic Club; Boulder, Colo., Jan. 9-12, 2003, at Mountain Sports, RallySport, Flatirons Club, the Pulse.
