Article Thumbnail Beware: Has Fair Guide now morphed into Expo-Guide?
Mar 26, 2008
Remember that nifty little Austrian company known as the Fair Guide? It snared numerous companies who exhibited at either an Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, SIA, Health & Fitness Business, Flyfishing Retailer or Interbike trade show into a frustrating flood of demand letters and threats of legal action for not paying an advertising contract that was signed in all cases unknowingly.

Article Thumbnail Merchandising Know-How: SIA goes green
Feb 28, 2008
The SnowSports Industries America (SIA) trade show in Las Vegas is always full of energy and edgy boarders. This year was no different except that SIA took a giant "green" step forward and included the EcoSource booth designed by Seattle companies, Utility and Dept. of Energy (DOE). Article Thumbnail SIA SnowSports Trade Show '07: What low-snow year?
Jan 29, 2007
How to best sum up the SIA SnowSports Trade Show this year? Let's swipe the line from the song "Home on The Range" that goes: "Where seldom is heard a discouraging word, and the clouds are not cloudy all day." That was the cross-country ski retailer mood at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas where weird weather and a lack of skiable snow across much of the country (including the driest January in 185 years for the state of California) did little to dampen the energy and buzz.

Article Thumbnail SIA.06 Trends: Nordic gets in touch with its feminine side
Jan 25, 2006
Our Nordic report from the SIA.06 SnowSports Trade Show takes on a different, and we trust, more entertaining twist. Few can match his experience. Fewer still, his wit and sense of history. To that end, we bring you Woody's take on SIA.06's Nordic world.

Article Thumbnail SIA.05 rocks the house at Mandalay
Jan 28, 2005
It appears that Snowsports Industries America (SIA) has put any questions about show timing and show health behind them. Despite no snow in the Northwest and snow that finally arrived (perfect timing) in the East just as retailers and reps were heading to SIA, the show vibe was electric during SIA.05 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Jan. 24-27.
