A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Jon Dorn started working at BACKPACKER in 1997 as assistant equipment editor. By the time Active Interest Media (AIM) purchased the magazine from Rodale in 2007, Dorn was BACKPACKER's editor-in-chief. BACKPACKER won five National Magazine Awards under his leadership.
His creativity and leadership skills propelled him up the ladder. He has served as the outdoor group's GM, and has led a number of key strategic initiatives including implementation of a unified audience database, the launch of AIM Studios, a revamp of AIM’s core website infrastructure, and the launch of Catapult Creative Labs. He currently serves as AIM's Chief Innovation Officer.
