SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - March 15, 2010 - Trips for Kids (TFK) will bring a selection of its Bicycle Thrift Shop to the 2010 Sea Otter Classic April 16 - April 18 at the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, Calif. At the Bike Thrift Shop, TFK will sell at discounted prices a broad assortment of bikes, parts and accessories donated by the bicycle industry.

"The Re-Cyclery Bike Thrift Shop we operate year round is filled with donations from the bike industry and accounts for two-thirds of all Trips for Kids funding," said Marilyn Price, TFK founder and executive director. "Our booth at Sea Otter is a sample of the items at our thrift shop in San Rafael. Any manufacturers or distributors with a booth at Sea Otter can help us strengthen our core source of funding by donating sample merchandise to the shop post show."

Exhibitors interested in donating can stop by the TFK Bicycle Thrift Shop at booth 228 to arrange for merchandise to be picked up from their booths after Sea Otter closes.

In the six years TFK has brought the Bicycle Thrift Shop to Sea Otter Classic it has consistently earned more than $3,000 to support TFK youth programs, including day-long mountain biking adventures, Earn-a-Bike programs and the 65-plus TFK chapters in North America and Israel.

Product donated by the industry at Sea Otter will be sold at the Re-Cyclery Bicycle Thrift Shop located at 610 Fourth Street, San Rafael, Calif. The shop is open every Tuesday through Friday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

About Trips for Kids
Trips for Kids (tripsforkids.org) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization based in Marin County, California. With 65-plus chapters operating in the United States, Canada and Israel, Trips for Kids opens the world of cycling to at-risk youth through mountain bike rides and Earn-A-Bike programs. Trips for Kids started in 1988 as a grass roots effort by avid mountain biker, environmentalist and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame inductee Marilyn Price to provide inner-city youth a way to enjoy the outdoors and gain much-needed life skills.

Fueled by success in the San Francisco Bay Area, the national organization was launched in 1999 with the expanded mission to open as many chapters as possible in order to provide kids with lessons in personal responsibility, achievement and environmental awareness through the development of practical skills and the simple act of having fun through mountain biking.
