U.K.-based Rab parent firm acquires Lowe Alpine in bankruptcy sale

The new U.K.-based owner of Lowe Alpine wants to bring back the brand's global apparel operations, as well as continue its packs and rebuild its presence. To do so, Equip officials tell SNEWS they'll follow the success set with their other outdoor brand -- Rab. SNEWS has the insight as to what this means for the brand and the U.S. market.

Fire! Pajarito assesses damage; Mt. Abram Lodge burns

Coast to coast blazes lead today's news. Pajarito Mountain in New Mexico is just beginning to assess the damage from the devastating Las Conchas fire. So far, it appears as if a chairlift and several runs were scorched. While in Maine, a lightning strike ignited a fire at the Mt. Abram Lodge.

Resort Report: 4th stoke, Tamarack repo, Tahoe stats and train war

Ski areas across the Rockies and Pacific Northwest may have finally put the ski season to bed after an epic 4th of July on snow. While in Idaho, Bank of America is getting ready to repo two of Tamarack's lifts, Vail is being directed to start thinning, and Denver's ski train steam into court.

Slopestyle, parallel snowboard bound for Olympics

New school will be served at the 2014 Winter Olympics, as the IOC briefly interrupted to the 4th of July to announce that slopestyle and parallel snowboarding are to be included for the Games in Sochi. They join the recent additions of halfpipe skiing and women's ski jumping.

Chairlift burned as Las Conchas fire rages

New Mexico's Las Conchas fire will likely blaze its way into the record books as the state's largest in history. One of the first structural casualties of the flames is Pajarito Mountain's Spruce Lift.
