Zeal Optics, a designer and manufacturer of action-sport polarized goggles and sunglasses in Boulder, Colo. has been acquired by Peoria, Ill.-based Maui Jim Sunglasses, according to several online job postings.

The job postings, such as one seeking a new manager of marketing for Zeal, on Maui Jim’s career website and at Malakye.com, a job search engine in the action sports industry, mention the acquisition.

Officials with both companies said details of the deal were coming soon, but declined further comment.

The new Zeal marketing manager position is being advertised as a job at Maui Jim’s headquarters in Peoria, but it is unclear whether Zeal would move all its operations there.

Both companies manufacture polarized sunglasses, but in the winter and action sports arena Zeal is best known for its line of polarized goggles, some of which include its photochromic technology that automatically adjust the shade of the lens based on brightness and ultraviolet light exposure. Zeal also recently partnered with Recon Industries to release its Transcend GPS goggle, the first to deliver live GPS movement data on a screen inside the goggle.

Recon recently annouced that it is expanding its onboard goggle GPS technology to several other brands.
