Wheat Ridge, Colo., July 6, 2016 - Optic Nerve Eyewear makes a loud statement in the eyewear industry with the introduction of its ‘Flip Off’ series featuring a radically simple lens changing system.

The company has developed a series of sunglasses around a new quick release design, dubbed the Flip Off. It's surprisingly simple: with one hand, press a small lever on the temple to release the lens while holding the edge of the lens with the other hand. Then slide the new lens in until a click is heard. Clean. Quick. Done.

Most interchangeable lens systems require the user to manhandle the frame and lenses, leaving behind oily fingerprints. Methods for removing lenses are inconsistent and are rarely intuitive. Users are often unsure if the lenses are secure after they have been changed. The hassle of the whole process leads to some people not using the interchangeable feature at all.

“It’s a problem as old as interchangeable sunglasses themselves,” Product Developer and Vice President, Tom Fox says. “Everyone needs to try the Flip Off system for themselves and ‘give the finger’ to time and effort spent struggling to change lenses.”

A noteworthy style in the Flip Off Series is the Nightcrawler (featured above). This style was designed to cater to those who want one versatile pair of shades to function in both active and casual settings. With technical features including multiple lenses for varying light conditions, an anti-fog coating, and rubber nose bridge pads, the Nightcrawler is extremely functional for the active lifestyle. However, The styling of the frame was inspired by casual fashion trends so that the shades can be worn anywhere from the trail to the bar.

Other Features in this series include:

  • High impact polycarbonate lenses meet ANSI Z80.3 standards
  • Temple length is minimized for broader range fit, as well as less hat/helmet impact
  • Bridge "span" area is reduced to open up peripheral field
  • Adjustable bridge component is ergonomically positioned for maximum adaptability to a wide range for face shapes and sizes
  • Lenses are 100% UV ABC and Class 1 Optical standards. high impact Polycarbonate
  • Lenses have washable anti fog coating.
  • Hydrophilic rubber parts grip even when moist; think perspiration
  • Lenses have C&C venting to increase air circulation
  • Frame is TR90 Grilamid nylon for enhanced comfort/durability/memory/resilience
