Mississauga, ON (September 14, 2015) – Hi-Tec Sports, a world leader in sports and outdoor footwear, is proud to announce that Hi-Tec Sports Canada will be sponsoring the Trekking with Rhinos event on September 19, 2015 at the Toronto Zoo.

The Trekking with Rhinos event will celebrate 25 years of supporting rhino conversation by increasing public awareness with a scenic tour around the zoo, including stops at the Indian Rhino and White Rhino exhibits. Zookeepers will talk about poaching, conservation efforts and highlight the work of Rhino Rangers.

As a strong sponsor of the Black Mambas, a newly founded unit of all female rangers who spend their lives protecting wildlife from poachers and educating the local community on the importance of anti-poaching, the Trekking with Rhinos event was a natural alignment, bringing together education and conservation in an approachable environment.

“We’re extremely excited to support and sponsor such amazing conservation efforts,” said David Battler, Hi-Tec Canada CEO. “Frank van Wezel, Hi-Tec’s Chairman and Founder, has made a private donation to the Black Mambas and is committed to using every pair of shoes sold under both Hi-Tec and Magnum as vehicles for “Stop the Rhino Killing” messaging using specially designed swing tags. The Trekking with Rhinos event will help educate the community’s understanding on anti-poaching and the importance of rhino conservation,” says Battler.

Proceeds from Trekking with Rhinos will support rhino conservation and enrichment at the Toronto Zoo. Trekkers are encouraged to collect pledges and the top three pledge earners will receive a pair of Hi-Tec’s Altitude V i WP hiking boots.
