UCO and Light My Fire, makers of quality lighting, fire starting and camp kitchen accessories, are celebrating a successful fundraising effort at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market this month, where they raised more than $2,600 to benefit Big City Mountaineers.
The brands hosted a special sale on Light My Fire Sporks throughout the show, offering the popular camping tools for just $1 each. They also sold new UCO Hundred headlamps and Leschi lanterns at deep discounts during their Happy Hour event, all to benefit Big City Mountaineers. In total, UCO and Light My Fire raised $2,645 for the organization, which provides wilderness mentoring expeditions for underserved urban youth. Big City Mountaineers serves close to 1,000 youth every year, helping them develop better self-esteem, as well as decision-making and communications skills.
“We’ve worked with Big City Mountaineers for a while as a sponsor, and are so inspired by what they’re doing,” says UCO’s director of marketing and product development, Peter Pontano. “We’re proud to have a UCO ambassador who leads trips for BCM, and this is just one more way we can contribute to a mission that’s really making a difference.”
