HOKA ONE ONE® Celebrates 50th Anniversary of JFK Mile Run with Title Sponsorship

Richmond, CA – HOKA ONE ONE®, designers of the revolutionary oversized cushioned running shoe with engineered midsole geometry and a division of Decker’s Outdoor Corporation (NASDAQ:DECK), is proud to announce their lead sponsorship of the upcoming 2013 JFK 50 Mile Run, which marks its 50th Anniversary on November 23, 2013.

The first ultra running race held in the United States, this historic event was first held in the spring of 1963 by former President John F. Kennedy as a challenge to his military officers based on the requirements that Teddy Roosevelt had once set for his own military officers. HOKA ONE ONE with its signature rockered geometry and oversized midsole technology is recognized as the original ultra running shoe so sponsorship of the event is a natural match.

The 50th Anniversary run of the JFK 50 Mile begins in downtown Boonsboro, Maryland, finishing in Williamsport, Maryland. The multi-surface race starts on paved road, and then quickly gains elevation and heads toward rockier terrain as it joins up with the Appalachian Trail. At the halfway point, the course enters the dirt track of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath and then finally returns back to paved country roads until the finish. 5,000-7,000 people apply for a spot in the 1,200-person race in hopes of competing in this iconic ultra run.
