Brunton has identified a potential issue associated with certain energy storage systems sold as Brunton Charger Impel and/or Brunton Charger Impel 2. These products are internal rechargeable lithium polymer batteries with a capacity of 13,000 mAh at 12 volts. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and other regulatory agencies, Brunton is voluntarilyrecalling and offering full refunds for these batteries. Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire. Potentially affected batteries were sold between 2011 and 2015.

The voluntary recall is due to concerns that the product may combust and cause a risk of fire. To date, there have been two reported incidents with the battery. Brunton is continuing its investigation but in the interests of consumer protection and safety, Brunton has made the decision to recall the product.

Consumers, organizations or retailers who have any stock of Brunton Charger Impel or Impel 2 should contact Brunton immediately at 1-800-443-4871 or email info@bruntongroup.com.

Brunton will contact all known consumers and retailers who have bought the products with a recall letter. Any questions or concerns about this issue can use the same number or email address above. This recall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

“We are deeply committed to the safe usage of our products and assure our customers that safety and quality are our highest priority,” said Lars Ola Brolinson, CEO of Primus and Brunton. “All new products strictly follow regulations and submit to third party tests to verify consumer safety and functionality.”
