The Snowsports Industries America (SIA) will begin offering membership to U.S. and Canadian retailers as of Oct. 1.

"Offering retailers membership benefits has been talked about many times before," says David Ingemie, SIA president. "We added the membership level now because our retailer advisory board told us that they want to be sure we are including retailers in decisions affecting them.

"It worked out that we could easily offer retailers a sustaining membership for $250," says Ingemie, "though I doubt we will knock the socks off of anyone with a rush of retailer members signing up."

Ingemie expects up to 500 retailers will join SIA initially, with more trickling in as benefits of membership become clearer.

In addition to access to SIA research, marketing images, and member discounts, retail members will have their names and contact information displayed in SIA's on-line retailer directory at www.snowlink.com.
