Carlsbad, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2013) – Zoot Sports, a global leader in endurance sports and makers of elite performance apparel, footwear, wetsuits and accessories, returns to the rugged coastline of Hawaii’s Big Island to celebrate its 30th birthday during the world’s most punishing competition: the Ironman World Championships. Zoot, whose high-functioning endurance apparel made its debut on Kona’s uncompromising proving grounds in 1983, kicks off a celebration of the brand’s exciting history with the release of a special edition 1983 vintage line at the 2013 Ironman, Oct 8-15.
“Kona is Zoot’s home turf,” said Molly Kline, Zoot’s Marketing Manager “It’s very special to celebrate 30 years with the race that inspired Zoot’s inception and development. This is arguably the world’s toughest competition, and the island isn’t known for being forgiving – Zoot has always met the standards set by both.”
Zoot will unveil limited edition ’83 vintage apparel during the storied 35-year-old race. Each piece of the highly anticipated vintage line speaks to the brand’s deep roots in the razor-sharp lava rock of Kona’s volcanic landscape. The line, which includes running tech tops, cycling kits, triathlon kits, and lifestyle shirts, was created exclusively for Kona Ironman spectators and athletes. The launch will take place at Zoot’s tiki hut-themed booth, situated in the heart of the race’s expo village, and will also feature a historical section where athletes and spectators can relive the many iconic moments and milestones in the Kona Ironman’s history.
The ’83 vintage line will be available for purchase exclusively at the Zoot booth. Zoot will also host the “Official Unofficial After-Party” at Hugo’s on October 13 to finish out the competition in style.
