Yakima Introduces New Color and Design Options for 2011 Cargo Category

SkyBox™ Pro Series Onyx Offers New Cargo Box Look; FarOut™ Pro Cargo Bag Expands in Size and Does Not Require Rack

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Continuing to meet the needs of active outdoor consumers, Yakima, an innovator in vehicle racks for boats, bikes, camping, winter sports gear, trailers and cargo solutions, today introduces the SkyBox™ Pro Series Onyx, a new color finish in five sizes for its premium cargo box series and the FarOut™ Pro, an expandable, durable all-weather cargo bag. Both products will be on display during Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, August 3-6 in Salt Lake City, booth #32101, and will be available at retail beginning early 2011.

“Whether it's a new color or added technical features enhancing the user experience, we are always listening to our consumers to create products that fit their changing needs,” said John Hoppes, category business manager for Yakima. “It is really about providing a variety of choices at varying price points to facilitate the evolving outdoor lifestyle.”

The SkyBox Pro Series Onyx, available in a variety of sizes from 12 to 21 cu. ft of storage space, is a premium multi sport cargo solution. New this year is a sleek, automotive high-gloss onyx finish, joining titanium and silver. Inside, it has integrated tie-down points, and includes a cargo net and base pad for protecting gear. Other features include an aerodynamic shape that reduces drag and wind noise, dual-sided opening for easy access on either side of the vehicle and a new and improved easier-to-use SuperLatchâ„¢ that offers secure locking and one-handed operation.

The FarOut Pro cargo bag gives consumers an added benefit with the option of expanding from 9 to 12 cu. ft. The FarOut Pro attaches to factory or aftermarket base systems and also mounts directly to naked vehicle roofs using included straps. “This new feature widens the possible vehicle applications and reaches a whole new subset of consumers without rack-equipped vehicles,” continued John Hoppes. The FarOut Pro features PVC-free construction with a topographical pattern, a stylish design tweak paying homage to the fun-loving Yakima spirit.
