Red Wing, MN – In early June, six adventurers will paddle over 800 miles up the Dubwant, Morse and Armark Rivers to the Arctic Ocean, a route never before traversed by canoe in its entirety, in a voyage known as the Tri-Province Arctic Canoe Expedition. Throughout the journey, which is expected to conclude in August, the explorers will wear the Vasque Breeze 2.0 GTX. The Breeze 2.0 GTX, introduced this spring, is an updated version of the Vasque’s most popular hiking boot, the Breeze. With a breathable upper and tough Dual Density EVA construction, the Breeze 2.0 is ideal for the variable terrain through which the expedition will cross.
“This kind of expedition is a real test of determination in challenging conditions,” says Chris Miller, Vasque’s National Sales Director “That’s exactly the kind of environment in which Vasque boots prove their worth, and we’re honored to be going along on this journey.”
The expedition team consists of: Kyle Terry, Ben Woods, Henry Cordeal, Jess Hernandez, Chris Martella and Andrew Hubb. Throughout the expedition, they will be collecting water samples for the International Arctic Research Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and taking photographs and video for National Geographic.
“We’re very excited to have Vasque as a partner,” says team spokesperson Chris Martella. “With the Breeze 2.0 GTX boots that Vasque has provided us, our feet will stay warm, dry and be ready to for any terrain we encounter on our journey.”
The expedition starts at Black Lake, Saskatchewan and proceeds through Northwest Territories and Nunavut to Queen Maud Gulf on the Arctic Ocean. Along the way, the team will pass through the calving grounds of the Beverly Caribou herd, cross a likely-to-be frozen lake and undertake over 30 portages.
