Innovations are again the centre of attention at ispo winter 07 on 4 - 7 February 2007 in Munich. As the world's biggest trade fair for sports, ispo provides the best overview of product innovations, new brands and coming collections. So that the specialised dealers can keep track of the highlights of the winter season 2007/2008, ispo presents awards for the best, most innovative and interesting new products in connection with its respective communities and exhibits them together on their own platform to the audience from the trade. In addition, these brands have the opportunity to present their products to an invited group of TV media in an authentic environment at the “On Snow Preview” on 26 January 2007 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

As part of board_ispo, the European Boardsports Awards will be presented for the first time in the categories of hardware, technical clothing, accessories and eco design. The jury is made up of leading media representatives, specialised dealers and experts from the sector. As special prize, the jury presents the Ecological Innovation Award for the product that best comes up to the boarders' motto of “leaving nothing but your tracks”, e.g. through production processes that are especially eco-friendly.

The innovations from the skiing area are honoured with the European Ski Awards. These too will be awarded by a competent international jury for new products for the winter season 2007/2008. There are awards in the categories of hardware, ski wear, ski binding, ski boots, Nordic and others. Apart from the already firmly established European Ski Awards, the ispo Outdoor Awards will again be presented. Here, prizes are awarded in the categories of hardware, clothing, footwear, electronics & technics, Nordic fitness, adventure travel, back country and others.

The closing date for entries for the Best of board_ispo, the European Ski Awards and the ispo Outdoor Awards is 16 January 2007 in each case; participation is free of charge. The person to contact for all three competitions is Kathrin Aichner, aichner@ispo.com, tel. (+49 89) 949 30156. All the award-winners can be seen on a joint innovation platform in Hall A2 of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.

Together with ispo, the magazine Runner's World again presents the Runner's World ispo Award for outstanding products in the running segment. This award is offered in the categories running shoes, running clothing and running accessories. For the award, the editors of Runner's World have consulted a specialised jury made up of sports dealers, material experts and athletes. The jury is guided by central criteria such as outstanding product innovation, high level of practicality, high distribution potential; the product comes from a successful product line or is itself a developed, mature concept; good cost-benefit relation for the end consumer; unusual design, innovative use of materials and form of production as well as good durability and high-quality manufacture. More information is to be had from Jose Moreno-Tapia at jose@ispo.com, tel. (+49 89) 949 20157.

The VOLVO SportsDesign AWARD is one of the most coveted distinctions for industry, designers and students. On this the third occasion, an international jury is looking for innovative and creative ideas which brilliantly combine aesthetics, function and individual design for the improvement of products with regard to the subject of this year's VOLVO Sports Design FORUM: “Personal Design”. The competition is open to representatives of the sports industry, designers and students in the categories of skiing equipment, board equipment, outdoor equipment, “wheelers”, accessories, footwear/headwear, clothing and concepts. The special category of concepts is aimed at young designers and students and is endowed with EUR 5,000 as special prize. Because of the great demand last winter, the jury has decided to increase the number of nominees from five to twelve. The closing date is
15 December 2006. Further information is available from Sebastian Baumgartner, sebastian@pascher-heinz.com, tel. (+49 89) 9441960 or at www.ispo-sportsdesign.com .
