(Aug 1, 2019 -- Boulder, CO) – TrailFork, a mission-driven, women-led, and rapidly growing outdoor food brand based in Colorado that makes healthy dehydrated meals in biodegradable packaging, is embarking on their first round of official fundraising. The company has partnered with leading equity crowdfunding platform SeedInvest to raise a seed round of $500,000. SeedInvest's Side-by-Side Reg D/Reg CF raise will allow TrailFork to raise money from both accredited investors and ordinary folks at a minimum investment of $1,000.
Lillian Hoodes, an avid backpacker, founded TrailFork in June 2017 after being disappointed with the commercially packaged, freeze-dried food options on the market and dismayed at the packaging and trash she accumulated on her trips. Since launching in 2017, TrailFork has grown from a few online customers to more than 60 retail locations (including 47 REI stores) across the United States. In 2019, TrailFork was named the 2019 Social Impact Start-up of the Year of Northern Colorado by Colorado Institute for Social Impact.
In addition to TrailFork’s retail line of 11 meals — which includes breakfast and lunch/dinner entrées (all of which are vegetarian; nine are both vegan and gluten-free), TrailFork also offers a customized meal kit service to best meet customer needs, desires, and tastes. At mytrailfork.com, customers can enter their trip length, height and weight, and dietary preferences, and TrailFork will ship custom-portioned, personalized meals appropriate for any backcountry adventure.
By offering healthy, sustainably sourced dehydrated meals in biodegradable packaging, TrailFork is looking to solve a pain point thay many outdoor consumers face: "The food I eat while backpacking and exploring the outdoors isn't good for me, and it's not good for the planet.” With TrailFork, consumers no longer have to make a choice between sustaining themselves and sustaining the environment they love to spend time in.
