Trail Runner Magazine Launches First Women’s Special Issue: Embracing the growing trend of women moving from roads to trails

August 4, 2015— Carbondale, CO. Hitting newsstands and mailboxes now, Trail Runner’s September edition features a Women’s Special —women’s running is booming as women discover the tranquility of nature, less pounding on the body and a supportive, inclusive community.

In “Breaking Barriers,” contributing editor Yitka Winn addresses this trend, and highlights ways women can overcome entry barriers. “Perhaps the best way to grow the sport [for women] is quite simple. Rather than try to find the right marketing ploy or the perfect female-friendly race swag, maybe all we need to do is take someone new on a trail run …”

Other women’s content includes women’s-only running groups, retreats and races, top running bra reviews, and advice on how to raise a family and still train hard.

Trail Runner’s women’s special issue will have additional distribution at key women’s events across North America. Outdoor recreation companies and running retailers are encouraged to contact TR for copies for female staffers. Please join us in our effort to raise awareness for women in the sport and encourage more women runners to take to the trails.

To celebrate the “Women’s Issue,” please join the Trail Runner crew for free beer at Summer Outdoor Retailer, at the Under Armour booth (#38213) on Thursday, August 6th, 5 to 6 p.m. Stainless-steel pint glasses will be available for $5— proceeds donated to the Salt Lake City Chapter of Girls on the Run!

Trail Runner is the only magazine dedicated to the off-road running community, encouraging runners of all ages and abilities to experience the outdoors and achieve a healthier lifestyle through trail running.
