MIDDLEBURY, CT - Timex, a leader in outdoor and sports performance timepieces, will showcase its robust portfolio of Timex® Expedition® outdoor lifestyle watches at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2011.

“The Timex Expedition brand offers a variety of collections with unique functions suited for a wide range of outdoor lifestyles,” said Heberto Calves, Vice President of marketing at Timex. “Timex Expedition products are built for adventure, while allowing users to bring outdoor style into everyday settings.”

The brand will showcase a wide variety of collections, including the Timex® Expedition® Trail Mate™, a rugged everyday watch which tracks distance and pace and is a value alternative to GPS technology; the Timex® Expedition® Hybrid Solar™, a collection powered by solar or battery depending on available light; and several new styles of classic analog field watches.

The Timex Expedition Trail Mate watch shows distance and pace on the wrist, and is a value alternative to GPS technology. The set-up is simple and intuitive, without requiring manual calibration. Once the chronograph is started, the integrated accelerometer uses the natural swinging motion of the user's arm to detect steps taken, and then calculates distance and pace. The watch also helps answer that nagging question, “when will we be there?” by estimating time and distance to destination, and sounding a half-way alert. Designed for walkers, hikers and joggers who are interested in tracking their progress, the durable timepiece also tracks calories burned, stores up to 10 workouts, and includes a 100-hour chronograph, countdown timer, alarms, two time zone settings, water-resistance to 100 meters and an INDIGLO® night-light for low-light adventures. The collection is available in a comfortable rubber or Cordura® fabric strap. The reliable and casual watch is currently available at Sports Specialty retailers worldwide and on Timex.com, priced at $64.95.

The Timex Expedition Hybrid Solar watch delivers solar power to a collection of outdoor inspired digital products. The watch switches seamlessly between solar and battery power depending on available light to extend battery life. Additional product features include 100-hour chronograph with laps and splits, 24-hour countdown timer, two time zone settings for travel, 50 meter water resistance and INDIGLO® night-light with NIGHT-MODE® feature. The collection is offered in gray or green fabric straps, or a black resin strap, and will be available in Sports Specialty retailers worldwide and on Timex.com in February 2012, priced at $59.95.

The new Timex Expedition men's field watches are classic military-inspired collections. The first boasts a stainless steel case, scratch-and-chip resistant mineral glass lens and striking dial design making this watch durable yet dressy. It is available with fabric or distressed leather straps in a variety of color schemes including brown, green or black. Additionally, the product is water resistant to 100 meters, and offers INDIGLO® night-light. The collection will be available in February 2012 at Sports Specialty retailers worldwide and on Timex.com, priced at $64.95.

Another contemporary interpretation of a military field watch offers consumers a crisp and clean look. The watch face sits in a refined brass case and a scratch-and-chip resistant mineral glass lens to provide a stylish look while ensuring dependability. In addition to the easy date set-up with QUICK-DATE® feature, the watch boasts an INDIGLO® night-light for easy viewing in low-light conditions. The watch will come in four styles: black resin, camel leather, brown leather or green fabric and will be available in Sports Specialty retailers worldwide and on Timex.com, priced at $52.95.

The last of the new field watch collection is a modern twist to a rugged and sporty watch with layered case construction, luminescent hands and large dial markers that guarantee clear dial visibility at all times. The product entails easy date set-up with QUICK-DATE® feature, water resistance to 50 meters and INDIGLO® night-light. The masculine, sporty watch comes with a black resin strap as well as green, black or brown fabric strap options. The collection will be available in February 2012 at Sports Specialty retailers worldwide and on Timex.com, priced at $52.95.

In addition to showcasing the latest in outdoor timepieces, Timex will continue to support the protection of wild places through its membership with the Conservation Alliance. Timex will offer a limited quantity of watches on Friday, August 5 from 3 to 6 pm at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market for a fraction of the retail price, donating 50% of proceeds to this non-profit organization.
