The two iconic American brands join forces on products designed to bring tech and style to city cycling

SAN FRANCISCO (July 13, 2016) - Timbuk2, the San Francisco-based creator of the iconic messenger bag and made-in-America customization, announces a partnership with footwear and apparel company New Balance Athletics, Inc. to create two new packs to pair with New Balance’s C-Series footwear style, the Timbuk2 C-Series Backpack and Sling. The two iconic American brands – rooted in movement, urban progress, and community – have collaborated on products to elevate city cycling by combining technical materials along with modern styling to offer cycling-specific functionality in a contemporary look.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with New Balance on a fresh approach to city cycling,” said Senior Design Director Andrea Chynoweth. “These bags are the ultimate companions for living, working, and cycling in the city, and this partnership is one more way that we can outfit the cycling community with the gear they need to take on urban life.”

Timbuk2 x New Balance C-Series Sling ($158): Designed to be in motion, this futuristic sling can be worn left and right-handed and is slightly stretchy, making storing and accessing your devices and cycling gear a pleasure instead of a pain. Leveraging materials and colors from New Balance’s C-Series model, this sling is highly reflective for safer cycling and subtly sophisticated for comfort in high and low places. Safe and easy phone access and total laptop protection make this sling a natural work and travel companion, too. The inside of the pack has a clean and simple internal organizer, and a reversible shoulder strap ensures that both lefties and righties can use it with ease.

Timbuk2 x New Balance C-Series Backpack ($198): Built for the frenetic pace of the city, the C-Series Backpack features sophisticated styling with stretch. Its soft secure spots for your laptop and phone are easy to access and its external helmet and U-lock storage are literally flexible. Inspired by New Balance’s C-Series model, rainbow and speckled reflective hits are equal parts style and safety. An additional Tricot-lined stash pocket for sensitive stuff and perforated air mesh back panel make for an easy, breezy carry. Dressed up or down, the C-Series pack works for post-work drinks or still-at-work grinds.

Features for both of the Timbuk2 x New Balance C-Series Bag Collection include:

  • Highly reflective iridescent strip that glows in direct light; not your average rainbow
  • Reflective flecked screenprint that improves on-bike visibility
  • Reflective zipper pulls
  • Stretchy exterior trampoline pocket that accommodates different helmet sizes and can be stowed when not in use
  • Laptop pockets that fit up to 15” laptops
  • Scratch-resistant Tricot-lined Napoleon pocket that offers safe and easy phone access

These bags will complement New Balance’s C-Series CM600C urban cycling shoes($119.95). With a traditional sleek silhouette, reflective laces, and high-density rubber, these shoes are built to withstand miles of urban commuting and pair perfectly with your pack.

Both bags will be available starting July 16 at all Timbuk2 stores and on www.timbuk2.com. High-res images can be found at https://app.box.com/s/pc82kx9x6nobehp0cul75y7sh6awss01.
