Just two weeks later and here we are again preparing for another National Championship. Two weeks ago we raced in the Checkpoint Tracker Championships and came home with a 2nd place. We raced hard and were in the lead at several times during the race, but Team GearJunkie/WEDALI had a strong push through the early morning and was able to gather 2 more checkpoints than us. As always, we raced hard to the finish line utilizing all available time and finishing just 6 minutes before the cutoff. We had a great time and felt good about how we raced. This is the second straight year we have finished second to this team in this race.

Brian, Scott, and Kristin are now gearing up for the USARA National Championships in Kerhonskon, NY this weekend. We will be defending the title we won last year in Kentucky. We would love to cap the year off with a repeat title of our own. Last year we raced hard to the line to just edge out Tecnu and WEDALI. This year both those teams are back along with prior champions, Untamed New England, who are sending two teams to vie for the crown. In addition, the top 3 Masters teams from last year are also returning. It will be a tough race with maybe the best competition we have seen all year.

The race starts at 8:00am on Friday morning. The course will only be revealed a few hours prior and will surely include mountain climbs, bushwhacking, and amazing views. The finishing cutoff is 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon. We will trek, bike, orienteer, and paddle all over the beautiful Catskill mountains. NYARA is hosting the race and always puts on top notch races. We expect nothing less from this one.

USARA will be posting race updates and pictures on their website. You can follow us (Team #1) and the rest of the race at:

As always we don't want to forget to give a big THANK YOU to everyone, including our sponsors, family, friends, volunteers, race directors, manager Doug Crytzer and the American Adventure Sports Staff, for your support throughout the year.

We'd like to give a special shout out to our sponsors for enabling us to compete at the level we do and providing us with the gear to do so. SOG Knives are great tools and are carried by the team during every race. Scott Sports has everything you need for adventures from bikes, to running shoes, to apparel, to winter gear. Princeton Tec provides the team with the best light on the market, the Apex Pro, as well as the lightest, the EOS. These lights make sure we can spot all those CPs at night. The team is powered by one of a kind HoneyStinger Waffles and Elete Electrolytes. We get great apparel and gear from Darn Tough Socks, Greenlayer, Headsweats, and Switch Eyewear. Our Soleus watches help us train more efficiently and Jackson Hole Packrafts has supported all our packrafting needs. The team also races with the best Adventure Racing packs on the market from OutThere USA.

Lastly, but certainly not least, American Adventure Sports is our presenting sponsor and one of the oldest Adventure Race producers in the country. They also put together several other events for adventurers of all levels and interests. They also have the best outdoors store in Pennsylvania, located in Greensburg.
