OGDEN, Utah (Nov. 27, 2018)– Suunto,a global leader in sports watches, dive computers and precision instruments, announces the launch of its single largest multisport project to date, the Suunto Multisport Team, for the 2019 competition season. The team will comprise a mix of 50 professional and amateur athletes based primarily in North America. Interested triathletes, ultrarunners, and other athletes can apply online for team selection before December 7, 2018.

“At Suunto, we’re always looking for creative ways to support the people and communities in which our products thrive,” says Jason Tillinghast, the regional commercial director for Suunto in the Americas. “With this new multisport program, we’ll be able to bring together our athletes, ambassadors, retailers and employees in a way that showcases the spirit of innovation, functionality and durability for which Suunto is known.”

The Suunto Multisport Team, presented by Enve Composites, will support members with a fully-kitted athlete package from many industry leading partners, as well as event activation, social media coverage, content and an annual team training camp. Suunto is also outfitting the team with the new Suunto 9, the brand’s latest multisport GPS watch. The watch’s 120-hour battery life, wrist-based heart rate and 80 sport modes make it an ideal partner for training and racing.

"We are thrilled to be working with Suunto, a brand that is truly leading in the endurance space. The forward-thinking products and overall brand culture set our program up for amazing success,” says Tristan Brown, co-owner of Team Sports, Inc., the agency that will manage the Suunto Multisport Team.

In the spirit of inclusivity, Suunto will also unveil its new, official ambassador program, named ‘Suunto Squad’, during the first week of December 2018. The Suunto Squad applications will be open to individuals who wish to be a Suunto ambassador, meaning that there are more ways than ever to get involved with the Suunto community.

“Although Suunto has always seen success with its global athletes and brand ambassador programs, the Suunto Multisport Team and the Suunto Squad provide new avenues to support and promote athletes and ambassadors on a local level,” says Caleb Whittle, the marketing manager for Suunto in the Americas.

Additional sponsors of the Suunto Multisport Team include: Enve Composites, Salomon, Jaybird, Castelli, Blueseventy, BOCO Gear, Stages, and Shimano. The team will also be supported by a bike sponsor that will be announced soon.
