[IRVINE, CA September 26, 2007] – Star Trac, the fastest-growing company in commercial fitness, has announced their exclusive agreement with Koko Fitness, Inc. for worldwide distribution of a revolutionary, computerized strength training system–the Koko Smartrainer®.
“We think the Smartrainer will be a great fit with our extensive capabilities in sales, distribution and service in the fitness industry, as well as our plans for future innovation,” said Randy Bergstedt, vice president of marketing for Star Trac.

The Smartrainer is a unique system that makes strength training simple and highly efficient. By combining personal training, coaching, personalization and strength training in one compact, comprehensive machine, the Smartrainer targets a broad spectrum of users.

“The Koko Smartrainer automatically manages all aspects of strength training that most affect success for members,” says Koko Fitness co-founder, Mary Obana. “First, we have engineered it to be user-friendly, simple and fast, with a rich menu of customizable 30-minute programs, such as Performance Golf, Fat Burner and Beautiful Bride. The experience is highly engaging and motivating, with constant performance feedback and personal guidance. Users see fantastic results since Koko dynamically manages pace, progression and periodization automatically as they progress.”

Each mutli-week program incorporates a selection from the more than 75 exercises on the Smartrainer, from simple, fixed-plane to more advanced, functional movements.

Since its regional launch in July 2006, the Smartrainer has been used in numerous health clubs, hotels, YMCAs and corporate locations. Ideal for a variety of locations, the Smartrainer is also an excellent solution for multi-housing, physical therapy, university, other commercial settings and private residences.

The Smartrainer (MSRP $10,000) was launched nationally at IHRSA in March 2007.

"We think the Smartrainer has a fantastic user interface," said Bergstedt. “Current users and club customers are very happy with it. Additionally, we saw it sell well in a late-summer retail test at Gym Source. There is definitely a market for this product.”
