Unsung Heroes Across the Nation

SEATTLE, WA (June 21, 2011) -- STANLEY, a brand of PMI, today announces a nationwide tour to honor unsung heroes – the hardworking individuals who take action, help others, and often go unrecognized for their vital hard work and dedication. The STANLEY Built For Life® Tour will celebrate the actions of these local heroes in over 20 cities across the US and online with tributes in select locations and a nationwide Unsung Hero Contest.

Kicking off June 16 in Fort Wayne, IN, the STANLEY Built For Life® Tour will be stopping at summer festivals and sporting events while paying a special tribute to individuals in several cities and towns for their unselfish efforts. At these stops, STANLEY and the local community will thank the unsung heroes for their sacrifices while recognizing them with a celebratory BBQ reception, VIP treatment at tour events, a Stanley 1.1 qt. Vacuum Bottle Commemorative plaque and a collection of Stanley food and beverage gear.

“People are connected to our products like they are to a loyal co-worker or a trusted friend,” explains JoAnne Anderson, Senior Marketing Manager for PMI's Stanley brand. “The Stanley bottle has been by their side day in and day out for years, much like the unsung heroes who are also there for us through thick and thin. We felt our Built for Life Tour was the perfect platform to give these Unsung Heroes the recognition they deserve.”

The STANLEY Built for Life® Tour will also feature the Unsung Hero contest, open to anyone who would like to thank a hero in their life or community. Nominated heroes will be featured on Facebook where the national social networking community can vote to determine the contest finalists. Once the finalists are chosen a grand prize winner will be selected. This winner will score an Adventure Weekend for themselves and three of their friends, so they can share in their reward with the guys who've always had their back.

Along the way, the 2011 STANLEY Built for Life® Tour will be visiting and entertaining heroes and mere mortals alike with its 1966 airstream turned traveling history museum, featuring a century's worth of classic Stanley gear and memorabilia. A mobile event in itself, the rig is complete with classic games and activities for just about anybody featuring feats of strength, skills tests, and spectacles.

“While we're celebrating summer for everyone with the Built for Life Tour, our real aim is to call forth the everyday hero and give him the recognition he'd never ask for or give himself,” said Anderson. “We all have these unsung heroes at work, in our families, or in our communities who really step up or who do the thankless jobs that make our daily lives easier. Throughout the remainder of 2011, Stanley is on a mission to show them our gratitude.”
