Boulder, Colo. (November 2, 2010) – Skirt Sports, inventor of the original fitness skirt and leader in the women's fitness apparel industry, is pleased to announce the expansion of its Kick Start women's fitness project to Tempe, Ariz. Kick Start will provide 15 women (with barriers to fitness) from the greater Phoenix, Ariz. area the opportunity to join a resource-rich community that prepares them for the Skirt Chaser 5k race on Feb. 12, 2011. All selected racers will receive a customized training plan, consultations with a personal motivator, fitness apparel and free race entry to the Feb. event.

“After a successful pilot launch at last summer's Skirt Chaser 5k event in Denver, Colo., we are thrilled to offer the Kick Start program to the women of Tempe and surrounding regions,” said Nicole DeBoom, CEO and founder of Skirt Sports. “Kick Start is designed to make 5k racing an accessible, fun, life-changing experience for women of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities so that they can achieve their goals of completing a 5k by either running or walking. Our goal is to have a positive, lasting impact on women's health and confidence while encouraging a lifelong love of fitness through this empowering and supportive environment.”

Applications to join Tempe's Kick Start team are open to all women in the greater Phoenix area over the age of 18 with traditional, yet surmountable, barriers to fitness including health, income level, lack of motivation, a sedentary lifestyle and fear. Applications are due Wednesday Dec. 1 at 5pm Mountain time and the official Kick Start team will be announced on Dec. 6. Selected racers will then begin training on Dec. 11 to participate in the Feb. 12 race.
