Sierra Magazine Pulls Back the Curtain: Uncommon Bedfellows Find Common Ground on Global Warming & Energy

Can scientists, politicians, CEOs, policy experts, and venture capitalists agree on what steps America should take to combat global warming? That was the question that prompted Sierra Magazine to invite high-profile problem-solvers from government, academia and business to a first of its kind energy forum.

At that forum, Former Vice-President Al Gore; Sen. Barbara Boxer, Chair of the Environment & Public Works Committee; former Duke Energy CEO and
current Chairman of Spectra Energy Paul Anderson; Sun Microsystems founder and venture capitalist Vinod Khosla; Dr. Stephen Schneider from Stanford's Center for Environmental Science and Policy; Dan Reicher, former Assistant Secretary of Energy, now Director Climate & Energy Initiatives at Google.org; Bettina Poirier, Staff Director for Senator Boxer and Chief Counsel to the Environment & Public Works Committee; and Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope were surprised to discover large areas of consensus on which solutions will allow us to most effectively tackle global warming..

An in-depth Sierra article hitting newsstands this week presents detailed insights from the closed-door session and also presents the slate of smart energy solutions recommended by the distinguished panel.
