Sierra Designs Revival 50 pack wins Men's Journal 'Gear of the Year'

Featured in the December/January issue of Men's Journal, the Revival 50 earns high marks for its revolutionary ‘Fulcrum Suspension™’ System

BOULDER, COLO. (For Immediate Release) – The Sierra Designs Revival 50 backpack, introduced earlier this year as part of Sierra Designs’ new category of backpacks, has been selected by the gear experts at Men’s Journal Magazine as a 2011 Gear of the Year award winner.

Thanks to the revolutionary Fulcrum Suspension™ system which mimics the human skeletal system, the Revival 50 impressed editors with its ability to comfortably carry heavy loads over rugged terrain. Here’s what the gear experts at Men’s Journal had to say:

“Using a frame system that mimics the human spine, pelvis, and shoulder blades, the three-pound, 14-ounce Sierra Designs Revival 50 carries big loads as if they were an extension of the body. With more than 40 pounds in the 50-liter pack, we scrambled up the Spanish Peaks near Big Sky, Montana, in comfort, as the vertically rigid pack bent and twisted with our every step.”

Sierra Designs’ innovative Fulcrum Suspension™ system consists of a four piece, laser-cut composite framesheet connected by a single DAC® aluminum stay and a custom forged pivot at the waistbelt for excellent range of motion. This system, combined with a molded backpanel and ventilated shoulder straps, give the Revival supportive load carrying, superior ventilation, and a comfortable fit. The result is a mid-weight pack ideal for comfortably carrying heavy loads all day long.

“Sierra Designs is dedicated to innovative design and construction across all our product categories,” said Sue Timbo, marketing director for Sierra Designs. “And thanks to our superior fit, carry and ventilation, we’re particularly proud of our new line of backpacks. Our Fulcrum Suspension™ system represents a jump forward in backpack design and we’re thrilled Men’sJournal took notice.”

To create the annual Gear of the Year list, a team of editors, writers and correspondents tested out hundreds of new products over the past 12 months. They chiseled the list down to the 43 most innovative and game-changing products across a range of categories including sports equipment, apparel, technology and culinary tools. Each selection represents the adventurous and modern spirit of the Men’s Journal reader, going along with the magazine’s tagline, “Live the interesting life.”
