The amazing outpouring of funding, support and supplies donated to Sherpa Adventure Gear's relief effort established immediately after the Nepal earthquake on April 25th has warmed hearts and helps hundreds of people start the recovery process. Individuals, groups, suppliers and industry partners generously donated cash and essential supplies such as clothing, tarps, blankets, tents, and water purifiers. To date, the company's appeal on Crowdrise(https://www.crowdrise.com/helpsherpashelpnepal) has raised over $157,000 to support aid in remote areas. An additional $50,000 was contributed directly. 100% of the funds raised are dedicated to the rebuilding effort.

Details on the distribution and impact of relief funds have been summarized in the company's first quarterly Donor Report. The report documents where, when and specifically what aid was delivered. In total, the company reports that relief efforts thru July 5th has reached 2500 households and impacted 11,000 people -- through supplies, cash disbursements, projects with partners and more.

Sherpa Adventure Gear invites industry friends who helped--as well as any one else who is interested in rebuilding Nepal--to this reception to acknowledge and honor their contributions.

Company founder Tashi Sherpa—who was in Nepal for two months before, during and after the earthquake—will be available to answer questions about recent and future relief efforts. He’ll share stories of passionate efforts by local people, visitors, Sherpa Adventure Gear employees and ambassadors. Images of the earthquake’s impact and relief efforts will be shown.

“Please come join us and let us personally thank you for helping rebuild Nepal,” said Tashi Sherpa.

About Sherpa Adventure Gear

In the highest reaches of the Himalayas, the Sherpa people lead the world in mountaineering with warmth, grace and good humour. Tashi Sherpa—upon discovering that his uncle was on Sir Edmund Hilary’s celebrated 1953 expedition to the summit of Everest—founded Sherpa Adventure Gear in 2003 in this spirit, to honour his people by creating the best quality outdoor apparel made in Nepal. The company employs hundreds in Kathmandu and Nepal at its headquarters, stores and manufacturing operations. Marketing and North American sales and distribution is based in Kent, Washington. A portion of every sale benefits the education of Sherpa children through the Paldorje Education Fund, an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable arm the company established in May 2012.
