Sebastian Copeland Joins Revo Ambassador Team

Foothill Ranch, Cali. (1/26/2011)- Performance eyewear brand Revo today announced the addition of renowned polar explorer and global warming advocate, Sebastian Copeland, to the brand’s ambassador team.

Copeland, a well known adventurer and photographer, utilizes his expeditions and photography as platforms to communicate the urgency of action on environmental issues. In 2010, Copeland set a world record while ski-kiting the length of the Greenland ice-sheet to raise awareness on the impact of ice melt. Also last year, he retraced the 1909 Peary expedition to the North Pole to commemorate its centennial anniversary by traveling over 700 kilometers on foot, a journey that he documented in the award winning documentary Into the Cold: A Journey of the Soul.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Revo family,” said Copeland. “Protective eyewear is a critical component to the conditions I endure during extreme polar expeditions and central to my art as a photographer. Revo's unique technology and dedication to high-performance glasses was evident to me the very first time I tried them on.”

Besides award-winning photography and documentary filmmaking, Copeland's efforts have made him a well-respected voice for environmental advocacy. Copeland has spoken on global warming at the United Nations, the World Affairs Council, and Google, among others, and is also the author of the bestselling book, Antarctica: The Global Warning. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for Global Green USA, the US affiliate to Green Cross International, and heads the SEDNA Foundation whose aim is to advocate from the frontlines of climate change.

“The Revo brand has two definitive missions: to create polarized eyewear with exceptional quality, and to support people and projects aligned with both outdoor exploration and a humanitarian or ecological cause,” stated Julie Schaffner, Revo Brand Director. “Sebastian is the perfect addition to our team of Ambassadors. He pushes the limits of human exploration and puts our products to the ultimate test, as well as embodies Revo's core brand values as an individual and activist. We are proud to welcome him to the team.”

Copeland will be in good company on the Revo ambassador team. He joins global water advocate and founder of Blue Legacy International, Alexandra Cousteau, world-renowned photographer and mountaineer, Jimmy Chin, and veteran surf legend, Wayne Lynch.

About Revo

In 1985, Revo began as a small sunglass brand with a big idea: technology used by NASA was just as suited for sunglasses as it was for satellites. Today, Revo continues to build on a rich tradition of technology and innovation by creating the clearest and most advanced high contrast polarized sunglasses available. Conscious of the world's social and ecological challenges, Revo strives to act responsibly. Revo's Eco Collection features eyewear made from Revo Re-Useâ„¢, a frame material made from 100 percent recycled pre-consumer polymer resins, and Revo Eco-Useâ„¢, a sustainable take on traditional plastic made from the seed of the castor bean plant in place of widely used petroleum-based nylons. Designed for the active sport and lifestyle consumer, the 100 percent polarized eyewear collection is available at authorized Revo retail locations nationwide. Revo is held by the Luxottica Group (NYSE: LUX ; MTA: LUX), a Milan, Italy-based global leader in premium fashion, luxury and sports eyewear. Additional information is available at .
