Saucony Triumph 5 Named "Shoe of the Year" by Runners World UK

The Saucony ProGrid Triumph 5 was awarded the coveted title of “Best Shoe” at the Runner’s World UK magazine’s second annual “Personal Best 2008 Awards.”

LEXINGTON, MA (April 14th, 2008) – Saucony, Inc., a subsidiary of Collective Brands, Inc. (NYSE: PSS), and a leading global supplier of performance athletic footwear and apparel, today announced that the Saucony ProGrid Triumph 5 was awarded the coveted title of “Best Shoe” at the Runner's World UK magazine's second annual “Personal Best 2008 Awards.” The awards, which form part of the London Marathon Exhibition, were held April 10th, 2008 at the Imperial War Museum in London. The ProGrid Triumph 5 had previously been awarded "Editor's Choice" by the same magazine in their Spring 2008 shoe guide and also "Best Buy" in the UK's Sunday Times "In Gear" section.

"The winners of our ‘Personal Best Awards' were chosen using the combined opinions of the Runner's World editorial team, our team of regular product testers, and the hundreds of people who rate gear and races on,” said Andy Dixon, editor of Runner's World UK magazine. "It was widely felt that the ProGrid Triumph 5 was a great update of an already good shoe, offering a broad appeal based on the combination of lightness and speed in a well-cushioned package," Dixon added.

“Saucony UK is delighted to receive the highly prestigious 'Best Shoe' award for the ProGrid Triumph 5,” said Richard Outterside, sales manager for Saucony UK. “This award reinforces our position and profile in the UK market to both consumers and the trade alike, thereby providing a significant stepping stone in our drive to become the number one specialist running brand in the UK,” added Outterside.

The Runner's World UK magazine's “Best Shoe” award comes only six months after Saucony captured the “International Best Innovation” award at Runner's World magazine's “International Editor's Choice Awards” held November 2007 in New York City. Runner's World UK, is the country's largest running publication and the UK's authority on running information.

“This award comes at a time when the brand continues to experience steady market share growth worldwide, with the Triumph 5 considerably influencing that increase,” said Tom Carleo, senior vice president of product marketing for Saucony. “With the Triumph 5, we've fine-tuned our midsole geometries to give runners a better ride and a smooth heel-to-toe transition,” he added.

The Saucony ProGrid Triumph 5 has increased the ProGrid surface area, providing an even smoother transition from heel strike to toe-off, as well as enhancing impact absorption and shock attenuation. Saucony's proprietary Arch Lock™ has been amended to give the runner a snugger midfoot fit, and the lateral crash pad has been further decoupled for dynamic cushioning at impact. A dual density SSL EVA midsole maximizes rebound while minimizing weight. Step-in comfort is improved with a breathable, moisture wicking, anti-odor and anti-microbial Ortholite® Sockliner that maintains its rebound properties.

The ProGrid Triumph 5 comes in men's sizes 7-13, and 14, and women's sizes 5-12. The suggested retail price of the ProGrid Triumph 5 is $120.00.
