Helping victims of hurricane Sandy and getting the job done, less than two weeks after the eastern seaboard was devastated, the Rendezvous Event Management (REM) Fall Showroom went on, and as a result, $3000 was donated to the American Red Cross, Tunnel to Towers, Restore Redhook, Waves for Water and The Mayor's Fund.

As a show of support, the event turned into a fundraiser for Sandy relief organizations as REM pledged to donate $50 for each editor who attended. “REM felt it was important to not only show support for those affected by the hurricane, but to also continue as planned in support of the local businesses that had been hired for the show's execution, ” says Kristan Clarke of Rendezvous Event Management. “Everyone was truly pleased with the turnout and results. The quality of the event was remarkable given the circumstances.”

Helping New Yorkers in the outdoor and fitness industry return to a sense of normalcy, sixty editors from major outlets attended the event to view Spring 2013 collections from nine leading brands: ADIDAS, Alpinestars, Ashworth, Bushnell, Chrome Bags, Dakine, Helly Hansen, Powerbar and Teva.

Editors rallied for the occasion, eager to get back to their work. “REM's events are always a win-win—great brands and great people—but this one was really a trifecta, because we were able to give back to charities that are helping New York and NY'ers get back on their feet after Sandy. Awesome." —Marissa Stephenson, SELF fitness editor

The event was a great success in spite of the weather's best efforts to thwart it. Pleased with the attendance and response, Emily Blood, of Alpinestars raved, “I received the most feedback from editors ever from these showcases,”
