Recover Brands - the sustainable apparel manufacturer based in Charlotte, NC - heads back to bourbon country for the second year running as Forecastle Festival’s Official Merchandiser Provider. The brand, that makes all their apparel from recycled plastic bottles and recycled cotton, will supply their official shirts in the merchandise tents as well as provide shirt sand bags for all the VIPs.

“At Recover, of the must-see artists, delicious food, outdoor recreation, and community atmosphere, we most commend the Forecastle Festival for putting sustainability center stage,” Bill Johnston, co-owner and founder of Recover said about their decision to partner with the festival.

Forecastle consciously chose Recover as their merchandise partner because of their national leadership of manufacturing 100% recycled garments. Sustainability is at the forefront of the festival’s mission statement, taking action such as sourcing power from renewables such as wind and solar, providing shuttles and free bike valet, and installing recycling and composting stations throughout the event site. As a result, the festival manages to divert 80% of waste from its 60,000 festival goers from heading to the landfill.

“There is no doubt that the best way to work for a sustainable tomorrow is through collaboration and partnership with such stand-out events as Forecastle,” Johnston said. “Recover is excited to be back again this year.”

An environmentally conscious company, Recover’s method of creating comfortable active apparel out of discarded plastic bottles and recycled cotton has resulted in a 35% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, 66% reduction in energy consumption, and 55% reduction in water consumption over their competition. They also don’t use die in the creation of their shirts, opting instead to presort the plastic and cotton by color.
