Paralyzed Veterans of America offers spots on its charity endurance racing team

WASHINGTON—Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans), the nation’s foremost advocate for paralyzed servicemen and women, has spots available on its charity endurance racing program, Team REVolution (Racing to Empower Veterans), for the 2017 Marine Corps Marathon. Team REVolution brings together able-bodied runners to run for those who cannot and raises money for one of the country’s foremost veterans’ charities.

The Marine Corps Marathon, held annually in our nation’s capital, is one of the most established endurance races in the country. With 2017 marking the 42nd edition of the race, runners from all over the world will flock to D.C. to salute our troops and run the scenic course. Fortunately, for those looking to make the 26.2-mile journey around dozens of historic landmarks and national monuments, being selected in the lottery on March 30 isn’t the only opportunity to participate.

“Paralyzed Veterans of America is anticipating a great third year of Team REVolution,” said Julia Walker, director of corporate and venture philanthropy for Paralyzed Veterans, and the program coordinator. “The Marine Corps Marathon is an iconic event in the endurance running calendar and we are privileged to participate. It’s a fitting venue to raise funds for our country’s heroes and pay tribute to those who sacrificed so much.”

The 2017 Marine Corps Marathon will take place on October 22 in Arlington, VA. Runners will have the chance to follow the footsteps of previous participants such as Oprah Winfrey, Drew Carey and thousands of current and former U.S. military personnel.

“The money raised by REVolution runners will help fund the organization’s many programs and services, including our adaptive sports programs for paralyzed veterans, benefits assistance, caregiver support, legislative advocacy and research to find a cure for paralysis,” said Walker. “Thanks to the generosity of our participants, we can continue to offer these resources to veterans free of charge.”

Runners who sign up to race with Team REVolution are asked to raise a minimum of $600, which includes the $160 race registration fee.

Sign up today to race on behalf of Paralyzed Veterans, and guarantee your spot in the sold-out Marine Corps Marathon. Registration closes August 25, 2017.
