Arc'teryx Equipment Inc., designers and manufacturers of technically superior outerwear, backpacks, and climbing harnesses is proud to announce the company has been honored with the 2009 Design Exchange (DX) Awards for its revolutionary Warp Strength® Technology WST™ R.320 climbing harness.

Honored on November 24th in Toronto, the annual DX Awards ceremony celebrates the success stories achieved through close partnerships between products and designers. Created to promote Canadian design excellence, the DX Awards recognizes the critical role of design in all types of organizations including commercial businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and the public sector.

Capturing the Best of Category for Apparel, a jury of leading Canadian business executives, designers and community leaders selected Arc'teryx's R.320 harness based on the following criteria: Function, Profitability, Aesthetics, Innovation, and Accessibility & Sustainability. The DX Awards are Canada's only award program to judge design by results, balancing function, aesthetics, and economic success.

“We are very excited that the Canadian Design Exchange recognizes the effort we have put into Design here at Arc'teryx,” said Ian Martin, Arc'teryx product designer. “At Arc'teryx, we're always looking at ways to enhance our experience and performance during outdoor pursuits. We constantly strive to improve and to innovate through the manipulation of design, materials and manufacturing processes to stay true to our design philosophy. As a Canadian company we are extremely excited that the Design Exchange shares our vision.”

The R.320 harness and winning projects from the other twelve categories will ultimately be on exhibit at the DX in Toronto. Past DX exhibitions have been know to travel across Canada and as far afield as Korea, to be shown alongside some of the best in international design.
