Beginning April 7th and running through December of this year, Backpacker’s Get Out More road team will travel the country to educate consumers about the equipment and skills that allow people to appreciate the outdoors, and encourage active and healthy lifestyles.
Backpacker’s Get Out More tour guides, Sheri and Randy Propster, will visit 63 retail shops and four outdoor festivals, delivering the best tips and know-how from the editors of Backpacker and providing authentic outdoor experiences along the way. The tour features interactive 60-minute seminars that navigate topics like trip planning, choosing the right outdoor equipment and apparel, and backcountry safety. It will also offer hands-on experiential outdoor adventures, retail workshops, product giveaways and more.
The Propsters bring the pages of Backpacker Magazine to life with their wealth of backcountry knowledge and skills. Their impressive outdoor resume includes a 222-day Appalachian Trail adventure, a 253-day ocean-to-ocean excursion along the American Discovery trail, and employment with the Department of Defense as Outdoor Recreation Specialists. The Get Out More Tour experience allows the couple to share their passion for wilderness exploration, while offering expert advice to those hoping to sharpen their skills and improve their backcountry experience.
According to Sheri and Randy Propster, “The Get Out More Tour is a one-of-a kind mobile tour that brings the pages of Backpacker Magazine to life for audiences nationwide. The 2011 Tour will stop at more than 60 outdoor specialty retailers to deliver the best tips from the editors of Backpacker Magazine and provide real-life outdoor experiences.
