PrimaLoft® Announces Schedule of Sponsored Events for 2012

ALBANY, New York (January 16, 2012) -- PrimaLoft® Insulation Technology, the world leader in performance insulations and yarns, announces its 2012 North American sponsorship campaign, which includes world-class outdoor athletic events such as The North Face Masters of Snowboarding Series, Helly Hansen Big Mountain Battle, The Backpacker Magazine- Get Out More Tour and The Banff Mountain Film Festival, among others.

At these events, PrimaLoft® mixes with athletes, brand partners, event attendees and spectators demonstrating how PrimaLoft® insulation keeps outdoor and winter sports enthusiasts warm, dry and comfortable. The sponsored events are carefully selected each year in an effort to extend support to brand partners, retailers and consumers.

The 16th Annual Adirondack International MountainFest: Keene Valley, N.Y., Jan. 13 – 15

This annual celebration of ice climbing and mountaineering, features guest athletes who entertain us with tales of climbing adventures, instructional clinics taught by visiting climbers and local guides, demo gear, and it offers a chance to gather with the climbing community for an exciting winter weekend.

The North Face Masters of Snowboarding presented by PrimaLoft®: Crystal Mountain, Wash. Feb. 14 – 17; Kirkwood, Calif. March 1 – 4; Snowbird, Utah, Apr. 12 - 15

This three-stop tour is the first competitive snowboarding tour specifically tailored to fill a competition gap in the sport of Big Mountain Snowboarding. A spectator-friendly sport, big mountain snowboarding includes the successful management of huge cliff jumps, tight chutes, steep powder stashes, and variable snow and weather conditions.

Helly Hansen Big Mountain Battle Series: Keystone, Colo. Jan. 28; Taos, N.M. Feb. 4; Fernie, B.C. Feb. 11; Squaw Valley, Calif. Feb. 18; Stevens Pass, Wash. Mar. 11; Killington, V.T. Mar. 17; Kicking Horse, B.C. Mar. 24; Park City, U.T. Mar. 24; ‘Battle in the Bowls’ Aspen, Colo. Mar. 25.

The 4th exciting season of Helly Hansen’s Big Mountain Battle is a team-based adventure ski race designed to take competitors to challenging and secluded parts of the mountain and experience the terrain at its finest. PrimaLoft® is the exclusive synthetic insulation used by Helly Hansen, and is the choice of mountain professionals at all Vail Resorts along the tour. The grand prize winners of each stop receive $2,000 in Helly Hansen gear, and a chance to compete in the finals at the ‘Battle in the Bowls’ at Aspen, CO.

Outdoor Research VertFest: Alpental, Wash. Feb. 18 – 19

The VertFest is the Northwest’s mid-winter celebration of backcountry culture. Participants can race in the Monika Johnson Memorial Rally, enjoy opportunities to demo new gear and engage in a variety of on-mountain clinics.

The 10th Annual Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival: Keene Valley, NY March 3-4

The Backcountry Skifest celebrates the ski experience both here in our own backcountry and in the greater ranges of the world. Local backcountry gurus, guest athletes and CloudSpitter Mountain Guides will lead guided tours for all ability levels. Demos and mini clinics will also be held at Otis Mountain.

The Backpacker Magazine Get Out More Tour: U.S. Tour, April – December

This one-of-a-kind mobile tour brings the pages of Backpacker to life for audiences nationwide. The experienced Get Out More road team travels the country to educate consumers about the skills and equipment they need to Get Out More!

The Banff Mountain Film & Book Festival: Banff, Canada Oct. 27 – Nov. 4, Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour follows

The world’s best mountain films, books, and speakers take the spotlight for nine days each fall in Banff. Experience the adventure of climbing, mountain expeditions, remote cultures, and the world’s last great wild places – all brought to life at The Banff Centre. The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings Banff to audiences around the globe. Immediately after the Festival ends in November, a selection of the best films go on tour across the globe. Each year, the films travel to 32 countries reaching more than 245,000 people at over 635 screenings.
