West End, NC – Polarmax technical base layers is proud to sponsor Pro Staff member and Charlotte, NC native Macon Dunnagan as he attempts to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro three times in 27 days. The experienced Kilimanjaro climber and Sons of Kilimanjaro author will be the first to reach the roof of Africa repeatedly in such a short period of time.
“After climbing Kilimanjaro twice in 21 days four years ago, I’ve been dreaming of the opportunity to try for three in one trip, and I can hardly wait to get started,” Dunnagan said. “I’ve been working with Zara Tours, an established guide service for over 25 years and no one there has heard of anyone trying for three summits in such quick succession,” Dunnagan continued, “As an employee of US Airways, I feel lucky to be able to have access to such a special destination and am looking forward to my 15th, 16th and 17th climbs to the Roof of Africa.”
Dunnagan will help lead 25 people to the highest point on the African continent over the three trips. He will endure constantly changing and widely varying weather conditions, as well as 15 days above 10,000 feet.
Dunnagan will be wearing Polarmax TransDRY Cotton throughout each trip, until the Summit night, when he will don winter weight Polarmax base layers for the coldest conditions, when temps can reach -10 to -20 before the warming sun rises.
If YOU want to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, Polarmax and Backpacker Magazine are giving away the Ultimate Adventure: Mt. Kilimanjaro. Dunnagan will be your enthusiastic and knowledgeable leader. Contest runs through October 11. Trip dates January 7 - 17, 2011. Go to http://www.polarmax.com/lodge/contests/ and register today.
