Steamboat, Colo., -- (June 1, 2010) – Point6™, designer and manufacturer of premium merino wool socks, is proud to support “The Golden Gate Dirty Thirty Trail Run" on June 5th to benefit the Colorado Mountain Club.

The 2nd annual race will take place at Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Golden, Colorado. Proceeds from the trail race (50km/12mi/7mi.) will benefit CMC's Youth Education Program. “This program connects youth to the outdoors, creating lifelong outdoor enthusiasts and tomorrow's environmental stewards,” said Sarah Gorecki, Development Director for the CMC.

Though it's only the second Dirty Thirty, the event has already reached runner capacity. For those still hoping to race, email megan@goldengatedirtythirty.org with the subject line “wait list.”

Point6 will provide their performance merino wool socks to all race category winners, enabling the runners to experience the benefits of merino firsthand. Their complete line of performance socks includes running specific styles that offer maximum moisture and temperature management to keep feet dry and prevent blisters.

“The Colorado Mountain Club is proud to partner with Point6. With generous support from Point6, the Colorado Mountain Club will work to protect Colorado's wild places for future generations to enjoy, while educating the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts,” added Gorecki.

Additionally, Point6 has chosen CMC to be the exclusive recipient of their annual 1% For the Planet donation, totaling 1% of the company's annual sales. 1% For the Planet is an international organization whose members pledge to donate at least one percent of their annual sales to environmental causes. Point6 chose the CMC as this year's recipient in order to support a local organization that is working to create a future for the outdoor industry as a whole.

“The purpose of the Colorado Mountain Club is to connect people to the Rocky Mountains while promoting preservation of these alpine regions,” said Betsy Seabert, marketing director for Point6. “It's organizations like the CMC that enable us to protect the areas in which we recreate.”
Environmental stewardship has always been a guiding principle for Point6 and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an important part of the company's core values. In addition to supporting local and environmental organizations, they have donated thousands of socks to people in need, with a special focus on shelters serving the homeless and victims of natural disasters, such as the earthquake in Haiti.
