Point6 Strengthens Community Commitment Through Sponsorships

Point6 is a key partner in its neighboring Colorado communities

Steamboat Springs, Colo. -- (March 24, 2011)Point6, the independently owned designer and manufacturer of the “Best Wool Socks Ever,” continues to support its community through various sponsorships. Most recently, Point6 has made sponsorship commitments to three local organizations including the Colorado Mountain Club’s (CMC) running race, “The Golden Gate Dirty Thirty,” the National Wilderness Stewardship Alliance (NWSA) annual conference, and theAssociation for Experiential Education (AEE).

These organizations share many core values with Point6 including: outdoor education for at-risk youth, environmental stewardship and social responsibilities.

“Point6 has always had a sense of commitment to its community,” says Peter Duke, CEO and founder of Point6 merino wool socks.“We are honored to be working closely with these great organizations to help build awareness about their missions and their successes.”

The CMC’s Golden Gate Dirty thirty is a fun, yet competitive race that takes place at Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Black Hawk, Colo. All proceeds from the trail race (50km/12mi/7mi.) will benefit CMC’s Youth Education Program, which teach outdoor sports, nature and geology.Various winners and participants in the race received prizes from Point6.

The NWSA is all about wilderness stewardship and connecting various wilderness organizations to build a strong network of volunteers.By bridging their efforts and experiences, NWSA hopes to discover new resources, inspire new organizations and create an allied group of grassroots organizations to assist understaffed federal land management.Since all the attendees spend time volunteering in Wilderness, they were delighted with the gift of a quality pair of durable merino wool socks.

The AEE strives to support hungry minds through outdoor experiences. Instead of conventional classroom lessons, the AEE allows the land to teach students about ethical principals. To support those students in the field, Point6 has donated socks to help further promote experiential education to individuals and families around the world.

“We’re so thankful for the valuable support to our association and our membership from Point6,” says Peter Mason, director of marketing for the AEE.“Having Point6 help our member organizations through sock donations is a huge support as so many of our young people have serious need for the proper clothing to wear in the outdoors.”

Point6 is proud to be a community member and to align with various organizations that share the goals of raising awareness for outdoors and adventure programs as well and encourage individuals to lead an active and involved life.In addition to product donations, Point6 has also been an active member of 1% For The Planet since its inception. The company also donates thousands of socks annually to people in need around the world.
