On Sunday July 19, the day prior to the start of summer Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City, thieves stole a rental trailer hitched to our truck containing the complete Masterfit Enterprises trade show booth, product samples and collateral material.
Needless to say, it was quite a scramble to get replacement product and cobble together a booth (for both OR and the World Shoe Show which followed immediately after) but we did so. For a complete report on the theft, click this link to an article that was written in the Outdoor Show Daily (flip to page 6 when the link comes up).
The (empty) trailer was recovered by the Salt Lake Police Dept. nine hours after the theft. With the exception of a large flat screen monitor, most of the stolen goods are not easily fencable to the general public, especially the 125 pr. of Zapz Microwable Custom Insoles and the Instaprint BioGel Molding System, insole blanks and posting shells.
The police suspect that the thieves will either dump all the goods (what a waste!) or try to sell them to a retail outlet. For identification purposes, a photo of Zapz can be found here and one of an Instaprint Molding system and the blanks and posting products it uses here.
We are asking you to help us spread the word regarding the missing items to the retail community with the request that they be vigilant in case they are approached by thieves trying to resell the merchandise.
If a retailer is approached to buy goods by anyone other than an authorized Masterfit sales representative, we request that they obtain as much contact information as possible and contact Masterfit immediately.
Fortunately, our insurance should cover most of the loss but when thieves steal, they do so from all of us as it raises insurance premiums for everyone.
We thank you in advance for your assistance in helping generate leads that may solve this crime.
