Cortez, CO – May 4, 2010 – Osprey Packs, Inc., a leader in creating top-quality, high-performance, innovative packs to comfortably and efficiently carry gear, today received Outside magazine's Gear of the Year Award for its Sojourn 25”/60L wheeled convertible pack. The Summer 2010 Gear of the Year Award winners are featured in the Outside Spring/Summer Buyer's Guide, on newsstands May 4th.

After field-testing literally thousands of products, the Outside staff chose its 315 favorite products. All told, Outside testers and editors spent several months in the field-testing this year's top gear in more than a dozen states.

In bestowing on it the award for best luggage, Outside praised the Sojourn25”/60L for both its design and utility: “The Sojourn masterfully combines DNA from Osprey's technical packs with perhaps the most intelligent convertible-luggage design available. During tramps in Alaska, Colorado, and Mexico, testers gushed about how nimble and balanced the Sojourn felt, testament to the StraightJacket™ design, which employs foam sidewalls to compress and center the load like an oversize taco. Its zip-away suspension performed like a real backpack, using load-lifter straps and a sprung back panel that conforms to your physique.”

Like all Osprey wheeled travel packs, the Sojourn25”/60L utilizes Osprey's proprietary High Road™ Chassis, featuring an ergonomic retractable handle with integrated vent fins, a 6001 Aluminum frame, an ultra-durable and light-weight composite base with a fiberglass matrix inlay and integrated foot/grab handle, and over-sized high traction polyurethane wheels with sealed bearings and a high clearance design.

Other features include an adjustable harness, internal organization pockets, and a retractable business card/name tag holder for quick, protected identification. The Sojourn25”/60L is also AddOn™ compatible; travelers can attach a daypack using its 4 D-rings.

“The Sojourn25”/60L is the culmination of more than 35 years of pack design experience. We're proud to have been put to the test by Outside and to have come out on top,” said Mike Pfotenhauer, founder and lead designer for Osprey.
