NRPA Expects Large International Crowds at Annual Congress and Exposition

Largest U.S. Park and Recreation Show to Feature Over 100,000 Square Feet of Exhibits in Salt Lake City Oct. 13-16

Ashburn, Virginia – 420 exhibitors featuring the latest in park and recreation products and over 7,500 attendees will descend upon Salt Lake City beginning October 13. The 2009 NRPA Congress and Exposition will makes its debut in Salt Lake City this fall and will offer exhibits, seminars, educational sessions, keynote speeches and more. The Exposition, featuring exhibitors showcasing every product, technology, and service imaginable for the park and recreation industry is one of the highlights of NRPA’s Annual Congress. From outdoor movie screens to the latest kinetic, non-linear play equipment to climbing boulders and more…the NRPA Congress and Exposition has the latest new products for the industry.

“The Exposition this year will absolutely impress those who attend,” says NRPA CEO Barbara Tulipane. “There have been so many innovations in our industry since the days of the sliding board and jungle gym and picnic tables. Parks and recreation areas now offer something for everyone and every age group and they’ll all be at our Exposition.”

Of particular note are the profiles of those attending the Congress and Exposition. Previous survey results show that attendees plan to spend an average of $375,000 for their organizations on products they see at the Exposition.

Over 65% of attendees have annual budgets of over 1 million dollars and almost 20% have budgets in excess of 15 million dollars. 82% of the attendees are industry professionals and 60% of those at the Exposition travel over 400 miles to attend the event.

“There will be something for everyone at the Exposition,” says Matt Ott, Exhibit Sales Manager for NRPA. “This is really a “must see’ opportunity for park and recreation professionals. As far as we know this is the largest park and recreation trade show in the world and we will have exhibitors coming from Asia, Europe, and Australia.”
