Golden, Colorado – August 2011 — Mountainsmith has taken their tent and sleeping bag line one step further for 2012. The roomy new Conifer 5+ five-person tent and the spacious, oversized Boreas 40° synthetic sleeping bag are both designed for family car camping, fishing/hunting camps, sleeping in the back of an SUV or any other place where weight is not an issue. The whole line of bags and tents excel in their performance with specifications and features unexpected in their price category. Whether for extended backpacking or family camping, Mountainsmith has the products to provide both carrying and sleeping comfort to any outdoor adventure.
The popular and award-winning returning line-up consists of the two-person Morrison 2 and the four-person Genessee 4 tents. Three down sleeping bags include the El Diente 5°, Sunlight 20° and Windom 35°. The Monarch 0°, Kenosha 20°, and Poncha 35°, synthetic sleeping bag models complete the circle.
The new Boreas 40° is a rectangular shaped bag with full zippers that allows for quilt style use while the other six sleeping bags are a relaxed mummy shape and utilize right-hand, calf-length, two-way locking YKK® zippers with anti-snag reinforcement. The 0, 5 and 20-degree models feature a form-fitting adjustable hood and neck baffle collar. The differential cut provides optimal heat retention, the full length draft tube protects against heat escape along the zipper and the contoured footbox ensures sleeping comfort. External hang loops are convenient for drying or pad lashing and cotton sacks are provided for storage. The relaxed shape of the new Boreas 40° accommodates up to 6'6†in height and 68†in shoulder girth with a dimension of 82†x 34â€. The other six “one size fits most†bags accommodate up to 6' 4†height and a shoulder girth up to 65†with dimensions of 80†by 32.5â€.

The new Conifer 5+ tent is a roomy design sized for two adults, three children and the family pet. The majority of the tent's interior offers a generous 6'2†peak, giving it comfortable standing room height throughout and not just at the center. The 3-season polyester tents are all designed with a two door/two vestibule layout and tent fly ventilation windows for maximum air flow. All free-standing and with bathtub-type construction floor, set-up is quick and intuitive. As always with Mountainsmith products, there is an abundance of features. The interior design consists of large mesh windows, a detachable ceiling loft pocket and mesh storage pockets. Set-up is facilitated with guyout attachment points, reflective guylines, color-coded buckle attachments for ten and fly, color coded poles and tent webbing, grommeted pole attachments and reinforced aluminum V-stakes on the Morrison and Genesee (The Conifer offers standard, aluminum tents pegs). Clip-pole attachments are lightweight and provide comfortable breathability. Instructions for set-up are conveniently printed on the stuff sacks.
One of the best parts? Mountainsmith designers easily set up the 2 backpacking style tents in 90 seconds or less.
