Golden, Colorado –August 7, 2006 —Outdoor Friedrichshafen, held annually in Friedrichshafen, Germany, was the location for Mountainsmith's first formal presentation of its brand to the European market. That effort was led by Mr. Markus Nanzig whose company, Essential Elements, based in Zurich, is Mountainsmith's newest distributor, establishing a network of sales agents and distribution groups throughout Western Europe. The announcement was made by Geoff O'Keeffe, president of Mountainsmith.

Mountainsmith hit the ground running by winning one of the coveted design awards for its new-for-spring 2007 Modular Hauler 3 Deluxe Travel Storage System. A committee from the European Outdoor Group (the organization that manages the trade show) chose the winning products from nine categories including apparel, shoes, backpacks/travel, luggage, mountaineering equipment, camping equipment, sleeping bags, water sports and accessories. From these, 25 were awarded design prizes. Geoff accepted the award for Mountainsmith as one of those 25.

"The show was an unequivocal success,” commented O'Keeffe. “Mr. Nanzig and his team had prepared a beautifully merchandised and very impressive booth, which from the opening of the show was steadily busy with dealers, prospective representatives, and press. By the end of the show, representation in many countries in the region had been secured. We also met with an impressive array of Europe's best outdoor and sports retailers. I could not have been more pleased."

Mountainsmith's commitment to innovation began in 1979 and continues to the present with a full line of active lifestyle products. The quality and comfort of all Mountainsmith products—technical backpacks, travel storage systems, luggage, camera bags, urban packs, as well as the lumbar pack icons—set the standard for the worldwide outdoor marketplace. Mountainsmith manufactures, markets, and distributes an expanding group of products designed to meet the demands of travel on and off the trail, through airports, and anywhere that carrying-comfort is essential. Mountainsmith products are sold worldwide.
