Mountain Source, a premier outdoor recreation and snow sports industry sales agency, today announced the addition of Glenn Buchan to their growing roster of outdoor industry professionals.

Buchan will support Mountain Source and their supplier partners in southwest Colorado, southern Utah and all of New Mexico.

“With his intimate knowledge of product and his superior reputation in the outdoor world, Glenn is an amazing hire for Mountain Source,” said RJ Guiney, managing partner of Mountain Source. “His addition to our growing team will provide us with an exceptional level of experience and service.”

Having worked at SmartWool Corp. since 1996, Buchan is largely credited as one of the original pioneers in the merino wool revolution. His passion and knowledge for the fiber encouraged people to try the product, which resulted in those people becoming wool converts for life.

In the early days when SmartWool employees wore many hats, Buchan held several positions, however in the end, he gravitated toward the product development side of the business. In his latest role as Sock Merchandising director he was critical in building SmartWool's performance sock category by creating the best fitting, most comfortable socks for mountain athletes.

Buchan's work for SmartWool established him as a leading authority on merino wool in the outdoor and snow sports industry and beyond. Because of this, he is referred to by many as “Dr. Wool.”

Buchan's first day is May 1, 2010, and can be reached at glenn@mountainsource.com, or 970-819-1031.

According to Buchan, he started in the outdoor industry “back when flannel was considered technical clothing,” and his retail career includes stops as shop manager, buyer, owner, and sales representative.

Mountain Source serves more than 400 retailers throughout in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and New Mexico. Their current supplier partners include Smartwool, Vibram Five Fingers, 5.11 Tactical, Timbuk2, Klean Kanteen, Stansport and Adventure Medical Kits.
